adad hannah is best known for his video photographs, or 'tableaux vivants'.
these appear to be photographs of people standing around, looking at paintings; or walking up stairs, or washing cars. but in fact they are not a single frame, but rather video footage of people holding very very still.
(a photograph promises you something. a video loop promises you nothing. it is not a representation, but rather, presence.)
i really like him and he makes my brain go in all sorts of directions.
